Size for size, Angular Contact
Bearing Swivels have increased
load capacity.
Lower operating temperatures
Longer bearing/swivel life
Longer Wire Rope Life
Compared to conventional thrust bearings,
angular contact bearings maximize efficiency, reliability
and service life of the swivel. This is made possible by the
effective manner by which the bearings transfer the thrust
loads associated with crane and other lifting operations to
the outer portion of the barrel. Each swivel, depending upon
its Working Load Limit, contains two or more angular contact
bearings. The result is a line of swivels designed for high
rotation applications with a lower torque required to initiate
the rotatation.
Hook Identification
Hook models utilize genuine Crosby shankhooks.
Each forged hook is made from allow steel and contains a Product
Identification Code (PIC) for material traceability, the name
Crosby and a Load Rating Code forged into it.
The hooks also incorporate markings forged into them which
address two (2) patented QUIC-CHECK® features. Deformation
Indicators: Two strategically placed marks, one just below
the shank and the other on the hook tip, which allows for
a QUIC-CHECK® measurement to determine if the throat opening
has changed, thus indicating abuse or overload. Angle Indicators:
Indicates the maximum included angle which is allowed
between two (2) sling legs in the hook. These indicators also
provide the opportunity to approximate, or QUIC-CHECK®, other
included angles between two sling legs.

Lubrication
All Angular Contact Swivels are lubricated
at the factory. Lithium-based grease of a medium consistency
is used. Each swivel, 8.5 tons and larger, is furnished with
a pressure lubrication fitting for proper field maintenance.
The frequency of lubricating depends upon the frequency and
period of product use as well as environmental conditions.
All are contingent upon the user's good judgement.
Serviceability
Swivel sizes 3.0 tons and larger are designed
so that they maybe serviced. On those sizes, only the bearings
and the seals may be replaced in the field. All other repairs
must be performed at the factory. Once repairs at factory
are complete, the swivel will be proof-tested and certified
to the original Working Load Limit.
