QUIC-CHECK® Next Page

QUIC-CHECKâ is a patented concept developed by Crosby's Research and Development Department which represents Crosby's ongoing commitment to Quality. QUIC-CHECKâ incorporates the strategic placement of marking indicators on traditional rigging products to indicate reference points designed to enhance the safe and proper use of Crosby products.

U.S. Patents 5,193,480 & 5,103,755 and foreign equivalents.

SHACKLES

G-2130

All Crosby Shackles, except for G-2160’s incorporate markings forged into the product which address an easy QUIC-CHECKâ feature.  Angle indicators are forged into the shackle bow at 45° angles from vertical.   These are utilized to quickly check the approximate angle of a two-legged hitch or quickly check the angle of a single leg hitch when the shackle pin is secured and the pull of the load is off vertical or side loaded, thus requiring a reduction in the working load limit of the shackle.

HOOKS

Hoist hooks incorporate markings forged into the product which address two (2) QUIC-CHECKâ features:

Deformation Indicators — Two strategically placed marks, one just below the shank or eye and the other on the hook tip, which allows for a QUIC-CHECKâ measurement to determine if the throat opening has changed, thus indicating abuse or overload.

To check, use a measuring device (i.e. tape measure) to measure the distance between the marks. The marks should align to either an inch or half-inch increment on the measuring device. If the measurement does not meet this criteria, the hook should be inspected further for possible damage.

Angle Indicators — Indicates the maximum included angle which is allowed between two (2) sling legs in the hook. These indicators also provide the opportunity to approximate other included angles betweem two sling legs.

TERMINATOR WEDGE AND SOCKETS

Wedges for Wedge sockets incorporate a two hole Go/No-Go guaging system which allows for a QUIC-CHECKâ inspection, ensuring that the proper size wire rope is being used.

The proper size rope is determined when the following criteria are met:

1.  The wire rope should pass through the "Go" hole in the wedge.

2  The wire rope should NOT pass through the "No-Go" hole in the wedge.

MASTER LINKS

A-342 and A-345 Master Links incorporate markings forged into the product which address two (2) QUIC-CHECKâ features:

Angle Indicators — Forged at 45° angles at each end of the link, they are utilized to quickly check the approximate included angles between two sling legs.

Deformation Indicators — Two strategically placed marks one on each side of the link, which allows for a QUIC-CHECKâ measurement to determine if the link dimensions  have changed, thus indicating abuse or overload.
To check, use a measuring device (i.e., tape measure) to measure the distance between the marks. The marks should align to either an inch or half-inch increment on the measuring device. If the measurement does not meet this criteria, the Master Link should be inspected further for possible damage.

LINKS AND RINGS

Crosby 341 Pear Shaped Links and S-643 weldless rings incorporate the QUIC-CHECKâ angle indicators forged into the product.

S-643
Angle Indicators — Forged at 45° angles at each end of the link, they are utilized to quickly check the approximate included angles between two sling legs.
G-341, S-341 & A-341

EYE BOLTS

Crosby Shoulder eye bolts incorporate QUIC-CHECKâ angle indicators forged into the product. Styles of eye bolts include the following items.
* G-277 Shoulder Nut Eye Bolts
* S-279 Machinery Eye Bolts
* S-276 Shoulder Rivet Eye Bolts

Angle Indicators — Forged at 45° angles at each end of the link, they are utilized to quickly check the approximate included angles between two sling legs.
