KENNEDY WIRE ROPE & SLING

For many operations, standard types of rope do not offer the strength or durability to make them good choices for lifting and lowering loads. Standard types of rope can easily fray and degrade with rubbing or with the weight of the load stretching the fibers and weakening the overall strength.

The answer to that problem can be found in plasma rope. This rope is sometimes also called plasma synthetic rope, and has a braided look with a strength that is equal to or higher than many types of wire ropes. It can be used for the lifting and lowering applications just like wire rope, plus it can also be used to make slings. It is rapidly gaining acceptance in a wide range of industries, and our customers find it offers significant benefits.

Benefits

The most common option in plasma rope for strength and versatility is the plasma 12 strand rope. This is made from high modulus polyethylene or HMPE and, with its rounded shape, it makes an excellent option for lifting as well as towing applications.

Of course, as it is not made of metal, it is free from the risk of corrosion. This means no rusting of the surface that can degrade performance. Additionally, there is not any metal shards or “fish-hooks” that can occur on the surface, making it easier to handle.

The weight of plasma rope is also a benefit. It is very lightweight, which means it is easy to move, carry, and work with on any worksite. It can be used in water, as in marine towing requirements, as well as outdoors in wet conditions for lifting. It is also water resistant and does not soak up water in the fibers, so dries quickly and doesn’t mold.

The one issue with this rope is that though it can be used at high temperatures, it cannot be exposed to direct heat sources. While this not a concern in many applications, it may be in factories, fabrication, or in processing areas.
